Which wedding restroom is right: trailer, deluxe or standard?
A restroom trailer is the right wedding restroom when the venue has level ground, a garden hose and a 110-volt outlet within about 100 feet. Without power or water, deluxe flushing units with sinks are the next step up. Standard units fit best in vendor and catering areas.
| Restroom trailer | Deluxe flushing unit | Standard unit | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toilets | Real flush toilets in private stalls | Foot-pump flush | Holding tank, no flush |
| Hand washing | Sinks with running water | Foot-pump sink, soap, towels | Hand sanitizer only |
| Lights and climate | Lights, mirrors, heat and air | Daylight through the roof | Daylight through the roof |
| Needs at the venue | Garden hose and a 110V 20-amp outlet within about 100 ft | Nothing | Nothing |
| Space | About 8.5 x 16 ft, level, plus truck access | About 4 x 4 ft, level | About 4 x 4 ft, level |
| Best for | Receptions, dressing rooms, evening weddings | Farms or barns with no power or water | Vendor and staff areas |
| Not right when | No outlet or level ground near the reception | Over 150 guests with no other restroom | Guests expect a sink and a mirror |

What does a restroom trailer need at a wedding venue?
A restroom trailer needs 4 things at a wedding venue. The first 2 are a garden hose to a spigot and a dedicated 110-volt 20-amp outlet, each within about 100 feet. The trailer also needs level ground about 8.5 by 16 feet and a truck path 10 feet wide.
- Water: one standard garden hose, run to a spigot that stays on all weekend.
- Power: an outlet no other equipment shares. A caterer's warmer on the same circuit can trip it.
- Ground: level and firm. Grass is fine when it is dry.
- Access: no low branches or wires over the path.
- No outlet? We can quote a generator.

How many restrooms do 150 guests need for a 5-hour wedding with a bar?
A 150-guest wedding lasting 5 hours with a bar needs about 5 toilets. The chart gives 150 ÷ 40 = 3.75, so round up to 4. The bar adds 1 more for every 5 units, which makes 5. We count each trailer stall as 1 toilet when we size a wedding.
Two ways to reach 5: a 3 to 4 station trailer plus 1 deluxe flushing unit, or a 2-stall trailer plus 3 deluxe units. Both options have sinks, so no extra hand wash station is needed.
The porta potty sizing guide shows the full chart for other guest counts.

Where should wedding restrooms go at the ceremony and reception?
Wedding restrooms should sit close to the reception, where guests spend 4 or more hours, and out of view of the ceremony and the photos. A short walk on a lit path works well. The trailer also has to sit within about 100 feet of its hose and outlet.
- Keep the trailer out of the background of the aisle and the first-dance photos.
- Light the path for evening receptions. Trailers have their own interior lights.
- Set units away from the food and the bar, but not so far that guests leave the party.
- Give the wedding party a closer restroom if the dressing area is far from the barn.

How far ahead should you book wedding restrooms?
Book a wedding restroom trailer 4 to 8 weeks ahead for any Saturday from May through October. Trailers are limited, and those dates fill first. Deluxe and standard units can usually be added later, but the trailer should be locked in once you have the venue and date.
Give us the venue address, the guest count, the hours and whether there is a bar. We hold the trailer once the booking is paid.
What should barn and farm venues around Chattanooga plan for?
Barn and farm venues around Chattanooga often have gravel drives, soft grass and outlets only inside the barn. The area gets about 52 inches of rain a year, so a dry spot can turn soft fast. We check the ground, the drive and the power before we confirm a trailer.
On soft clay, we set units on gravel, plywood or pavement. Steep farm drives near Signal Mountain or Lookout Mountain may need the trailer set at the top or the bottom. Read our guide to outdoor wedding restrooms in Chattanooga for more planning tips.

Wedding restroom questions
How much does a restroom trailer cost for a wedding?
A 2-stall restroom trailer runs $895 to $1,450 for a wedding weekend. A 3 to 4 station trailer runs $1,450 to $2,400. Delivery and pickup are included in our core area. Deluxe flushing units run $275 to $350 each for an event. See the porta potty cost guide for the full breakdown.
How far ahead should we book a wedding restroom trailer?
Book 4 to 8 weeks ahead for a Saturday wedding from May through October. We have a limited number of trailers, and those Saturdays go first. Winter and weekday weddings often book with less notice.
What if our venue has no outlet near the trailer?
A trailer needs a dedicated 110-volt, 20-amp outlet within about 100 feet. Without one, we can quote a generator. Share a photo of the outlet and the spot you have in mind, and we confirm before you book.
Can the trailer be set up the day before the wedding?
Weekend wedding trailers are delivered on Friday and picked up on Monday, and that is part of the price. Friday setup gives time to test the water and power before the rehearsal, with no truck in the way on the big day.
Who keeps the restroom trailer stocked during the reception?
The trailer arrives cleaned and stocked with paper, soap and towels. Ask your planner or a venue staff member to check it once during the reception. We show them where the spare paper is kept at setup.
Do we need a wheelchair-accessible restroom at a private wedding?
A private wedding is not held to the public event rule, but any guest who uses a wheelchair needs a usable restroom. Trailers have steps. Add a wheelchair-accessible unit beside the trailer, or ask about the accessible trailer model.
