What comes with a standard porta potty rental in Chattanooga?
A standard porta potty rental in Chattanooga includes 1 toilet seat, 1 urinal, a hand sanitizer dispenser, toilet paper, a roof vent and a door lock with an occupied sign. Delivery, level setup and pickup are included in our core area. Long-term units also get 1 service visit a week at no added charge.
- Seat and urinal. The urinal on the side wall keeps the seat cleaner on busy job sites.
- Hand sanitizer. A wall dispenser comes full, and we refill it at every service visit.
- Daylight and air. A see-through roof lets light in, and a vent pulls odor up and out.
- Privacy. The door latch shows occupied from outside. Ask for a hasp if you want to padlock a crew unit at night.
How big is a standard porta potty, and will it fit my space?
A standard porta potty is about 44 inches wide, 47 inches deep and 90 inches tall, and it weighs about 160 pounds empty. A 44-inch-wide unit needs a gate at least 48 inches wide. We can roll the unit about 50 feet from the truck over firm, fairly level ground.
| Outside size | About 44 in. wide x 47 in. deep x 90 in. tall |
|---|---|
| Weight, empty | About 160 lb |
| Waste tank | About 60 gallons |
| Uses between services | About 200 |
| Inside | Toilet seat, urinal, hand sanitizer dispenser, toilet paper |
| Light and air | See-through roof and a vent |
| Door | Lock with an occupied sign |
| Gate it fits through | 48 inches wide or more |
| Ground | Level, firm spot about 4 x 4 ft |
| Water or power | None needed |
When is a standard porta potty the wrong choice?
A standard porta potty is the wrong choice in 3 cases: a guest uses a wheelchair, guests expect to wash with soap and water, or food is served. Each of those calls for a different unit or an add-on. For most other jobs, the standard unit is the simplest and lowest-cost choice.
- Someone uses a wheelchair or walker. Add a wheelchair-accessible unit with a ground-level floor and room to turn.
- Guests expect a sink. For a church dinner or a small wedding, a deluxe flushing unit with a sink feels nicer.
- Food is cooked or served. Pair the standard unit with a hand washing station.
- A formal wedding with power and water on site. A restroom trailer fits the mood better.
- Too many people on one unit. More than 10 workers on one unit fills it fast. Add a unit or a second weekly visit.
How does a standard unit compare with a deluxe flushing unit?
A standard unit and a deluxe flushing unit both fit in a spot about 4 by 4 feet. The standard unit goes about 200 uses between services and has a urinal. The deluxe unit adds a foot-pump flush, a sink and a mirror, but its 20 gallons of fresh water run out sooner.
| Feature | Standard | Deluxe flushing |
|---|---|---|
| Toilet | Holding tank, no flush | Foot-pump flush |
| Hand cleaning | Sanitizer dispenser | Foot-pump sink, soap and paper towels |
| Mirror | No | Yes |
| Fresh water on board | None | About 20 gallons |
| Uses between services | About 200 | About 150 to 200 |
| Outside size | About 44 x 47 x 90 in. | About 45 x 48 x 92 in. |
| Best for | Job sites, long-term use, most parties | Parties, church events, small weddings |
What happens at a weekly service visit for a standard porta potty?
Every standard porta potty on a long-term rental gets 1 service visit a week, included in the price. The driver pumps the tank, scrubs the seat, walls and floor, adds fresh deodorizer, and restocks toilet paper and sanitizer. A dated tag inside the door shows the last visit.
Plan a second weekly visit when 10 or more workers share one unit, or during July and August heat. Event units arrive clean and stocked. For events longer than 2 days, a mid-event service can be added.
Is a unit damaged or tipped over? Call us. We usually replace it the same day. Crew sizing and OSHA counts are on the construction porta potty page.
Where should a standard porta potty go on my property?
A standard porta potty needs a level, firm spot about 4 feet by 4 feet. Our truck needs a path about 10 feet wide with 12 feet of clearance and no low wires. Pick a spot the service truck can reach every week, within about 50 feet of where it parks.
- Mark the spot with a cone or ribbon. You do not need to be there when we deliver.
- Text the gate code to the number you called. The driver calls about 30 minutes before arriving.
- On red clay, we set the unit on gravel, plywood or pavement so the truck can still reach it after rain.
- On a steep drive on Signal Mountain or Lookout Mountain, tell us the grade. We may set the unit at the top or bottom of the drive.
What does a standard porta potty look like inside?
A standard porta potty has 1 toilet seat over the holding tank, a urinal on the side wall, a sanitizer dispenser and a toilet paper holder. The roof lets in daylight, and a vent pulls air up and out. The photos below show the inside and a real alley setup.

Standard porta potty questions
Does a standard porta potty come with toilet paper and sanitizer?
Every standard unit arrives with toilet paper and a full hand sanitizer dispenser. Long-term units are restocked at each weekly visit. Running low between visits? Call and add a service visit, which runs $45 to $65 per unit.
Does the standard unit have a urinal?
Each standard unit has a urinal on the side wall plus the toilet seat. The urinal helps the seat stay cleaner on job sites with mostly male crews. See the porta potty sizing guide for crew counts.
Can I lock a standard porta potty at night?
The door has an inside latch that shows occupied from outside. To keep the public out of a crew unit after hours, ask for a hasp when you book and add your own padlock. Give our driver the combination or a key so service can happen on schedule.
How much is a standard porta potty for a weekend party?

How many people can use one standard porta potty before it is full?
A standard unit handles about 200 uses between services. That covers about 50 guests at a 4-hour party, or about 10 workers for a 40-hour week with weekly service. The how many porta potties do I need guide has the full chart.
