How Renting a Porta Potty Works, Step by Step
From the first call to the last pickup, a porta potty rental with Roger Rental Works follows the same 8 steps. Here is what happens at each one, what you need to do, and what we handle for you.

What are the steps from booking to pickup?
A porta potty rental has 8 steps: the quote call, booking and payment, delivery, placement, servicing, extensions, any damage calls, and pickup. You handle 3 of them: the call, the payment and the pickup request. We handle the trucks, the cleaning and the timing.
- Call for a quote. Have the address, dates and headcount ready. What to have ready.
- Book and pay. Approve one itemized price. Payment and cancellation.
- We schedule delivery. The driver calls about 30 minutes out. Delivery timing.
- We set the unit level. You mark the spot and share gate codes. Placement and access.
- We service and restock. Weekly on long-term rentals. Servicing.
- Extend if you need to. 28-day rentals renew on their own. Extensions.
- Call if something breaks. We usually swap it the same day. Damage.
- Call for pickup. Billing stops that day. Ending the rental.
What should you have ready when you call for a quote?
Have 5 things ready when you call for a porta potty quote: the site address, your start and end dates, the number of guests or workers, the type of unit you want, and where the unit should sit. With those details, a quote call takes about 5 minutes.
- Address or ZIP code. It sets the delivery line and the tax rate.
- Dates. Event day, or the start date and rough end date of a job.
- Headcount. Guests at the busiest point, or workers on site. Not sure? Use the porta potty sizing calculator.
- Unit type. Standard, deluxe flushing, wheelchair-accessible, hand washing station or restroom trailer.
- Site details. Gate width, slope, low wires, mud, and any gate code.
Call (423) 220-8808, Monday to Friday 7 AM to 6 PM, Saturday 8 AM to 2 PM. Online quote requests get a call back within 30 minutes during business hours.
How do booking and payment work?
Booking happens on the same call as the quote, once you approve one itemized price. Event rentals are paid in full at booking. Construction rentals pay the first 28-day cycle at delivery. We take cards, debit cards and checks, and business accounts can be invoiced with no card fee.
Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before delivery. Inside 48 hours, a $50 trip fee applies. Once a unit is delivered, the event price is earned.
Churches, schools and nonprofits can send a tax-exempt certificate before delivery. See the full rental terms and the porta potty price guide.
When will the porta potty be delivered?
Delivery routes run from 7 AM to 5 PM, and the driver calls about 30 minutes before arriving. Same-day delivery is possible when you order by 12 PM on a weekday. Units for weekend events go out on Friday, so they are in place before your first guest arrives.
- No exact time. Routes are set each morning, so we give a day, not a minute. Jobsites can ask for a 2-hour window.
- Friday drop for weekend events. Pickup is on Monday, and both are part of the event price. A Saturday-morning drop is possible on many weekends, so ask.
- You do not need to be there. Mark the spot and keep your phone on for the driver's call.
- Need it today? Same-day orders add a $50 to $95 fee. See same-day porta potty delivery.
Where can the unit go, and what does the truck need?
A standard porta potty needs a level, firm spot about 4 by 4 feet, within about 50 feet of where the truck parks. The truck needs a path about 10 feet wide with 12 feet of overhead clearance and no low wires. Gates must be at least 48 inches wide for a standard unit.
- Mark the spot. A cone, a flag or a ribbon works. A photo texted to us helps even more.
- Gate codes and locks. Text the code, or leave the gate unlocked on delivery day.
- Slopes. On steep drives on Signal Mountain, Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge or Walden, we may set the unit at the top or bottom of the drive. Tell us the grade.
- Red clay and rain. We set units on gravel, plywood or pavement so the service truck can still reach them after a storm.
- Bigger units. A wheelchair-accessible unit needs a flat pad about 7.5 by 7.5 feet. A restroom trailer needs about 8.5 by 16 feet, a garden hose and a 110-volt, 20-amp outlet within about 100 feet.

How are porta potties serviced and restocked?
Long-term porta potties get 1 service visit every week, included in the 28-day price. The driver pumps the tank, scrubs the seat, walls and floor, adds fresh deodorizer, and restocks toilet paper and sanitizer. A dated service tag inside the door shows each visit.
Extra visits cost $45 to $65 per unit. We suggest twice-weekly service for 10 or more workers per unit, or in July and August heat. Keep a 10-foot lane open to the unit so the truck can reach it each week.
Event units arrive clean and fully stocked. For events longer than 2 days, you can add a mid-event service visit.

How do you extend a porta potty rental?
Long-term porta potty rentals extend on their own, because the 28-day billing cycle renews automatically until you call for pickup. There is nothing to do to keep a unit longer. For an event rental, call before your pickup date, and we will tell you the cost of the added time first.
Job running long? Weekly service keeps going as long as the unit stays. See the construction porta potty rental page for how cycles line up with service visits.
What happens if a unit is damaged, tipped or vandalized?
Call us right away if a porta potty is damaged, tipped over or vandalized. We usually replace a damaged or tipped unit the same day. Keep people away from a tipped unit until we arrive, and take 1 or 2 photos if you can. Our rental terms explain who pays for damage.
A level spot, out of the open wind, is the best way to keep a unit standing. On public sites, ask for a hasp so you can lock the door after hours.
Read the damage section of the rental terms before a long job starts.
How do you end the rental and stop the billing?
Call or text us when you are done, and billing stops on the day you call. Pickup is usually scheduled within 1 to 2 business days. Event rentals end on their own, since the pickup date is set when you book. There is no removal fee at the end of any rental.
Leave the gate code active until the truck has come and gone. If the unit moved during the job, tell us where it is now.
What should you do with the units after your event?
After the event, leave the porta potties where they stand, close the doors, and keep the truck path clear for Monday pickup. Please do not try to move a used unit, because the tank can hold up to 60 gallons of waste. Call us if pickup needs to happen sooner.
- Close every door so rain and leaves stay out.
- Keep trash out of the tank. Bag it and put it in your own bins.
- Move cars, tents and tables out of the truck's path.
- Lock the units with your hasp if the site is open to the public.
What do renters ask about the process?
Renters most often ask about booking online, moving a unit, locked gates and rain. All 6 answers below follow the same booking-to-pickup steps on this page. For anything not covered, a quick call to our yard on Tag Road gets you a real answer from the person who runs the trucks.
Can I book a porta potty online instead of calling?
Send the quote form with your ZIP code, dates, unit type and headcount. We call you back within 30 minutes during business hours. The booking is confirmed on that call, once you approve the itemized price. Open the quote form.
What if the driver can't reach the spot I marked?
The driver sets the unit at the closest level, firm spot the truck can reach. A gate under 48 inches, low wires or soft clay are the usual reasons. Tell us about any of these when you book, and we plan around them before the truck leaves.
Can I move the porta potty myself after it is delivered?
Please leave the moving to us. An empty standard unit weighs about 160 pounds, and a used one holds waste that can spill. Call us, and we will move it on the next service visit or set up a trip.
Where is the service tag, and what does it show?
The service tag hangs inside the door of the unit. The driver dates it at each weekly visit. Your crew, your general contractor or an inspector can check it to see when the unit was last cleaned.
Can you deliver to a locked job site before the crew arrives?
Text us the gate code or lock combination when you book, and the driver uses it to get in. For a jobsite, you can also ask for a 2-hour delivery window so someone is there to open up.
What if it pours rain on delivery day?
Deliveries run in the rain on normal routes. Chattanooga gets about 52 inches of rain a year, so we set units on gravel, plywood or pavement when the ground is red clay. Tell us if the site floods, and we will pick a higher spot.
